Scan Any Food Barcode for Instant Nutrition Data

NutriOptio’s barcode food scanner turns your phone into a powerful nutrition lookup tool. Simply point your camera at the barcode on any packaged food product, and within seconds you receive a complete nutritional profile including calories, macronutrients, and five health indicator scores.

Unlike traditional food scanner apps that require you to download a large application from the app store and create an account, NutriOptio works entirely in your web browser. There is nothing to install, no account to create, and no subscription to pay for. Open the page, tap the scan button, and start scanning.

The scanner is powered by Open Food Facts, the world’s largest open database of food products, covering millions of products from around the globe. This means that whether you are scanning a product in New York, London, Mumbai, or Tokyo, there is an excellent chance that NutriOptio will have the data you need.

How to Scan a Food Barcode

1. Open the scanner
   You are already on it. Nothing to sign up for and nothing to download, on phone, tablet or computer.
2. Tap “Scan with camera”
   This opens the barcode scanner. Grant camera permission if prompted (asked only the first time, and only when you tap). On a desktop without a camera, type the number instead.
3. Point at the barcode
   Hold the device so the barcode sits inside the box. A red guide line helps you align it. The scanner reads the code automatically as soon as it detects a valid barcode.
4. View full nutrition results
   NutriOptio displays the product name, complete nutritional breakdown (calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber, sodium, sugar), diet tags, and the health indicators: Glycemic Index, Glycemic Load, Insulin Index, Satiety Index, NOVA processing level, Nutrient Density and Nutri-Score.

• Good lighting: Ensure the barcode is well-lit for the fastest, most reliable scans.
• Steady hand: Hold your device still while scanning. The red guide line will help you align.
• Flat surface: If the barcode is on a curved surface, try to flatten it or scan at a slight angle.
• Clean barcode: Ensure the barcode is not covered by stickers, damage, or wrinkles.
• Proper distance: Hold your phone about 10 to 20 centimeters from the barcode for optimal scanning.

Privacy and Permissions

NutriOptio requests camera access only when you tap the scan button. Camera data is processed entirely on your device and is never uploaded, stored, or shared. The only data transmitted to our servers is the barcode number itself, which is used to look up the product. NutriOptio does not track your scanning history or create a profile of your food choices.
