To act as a wellness partner rather than a scoreboard. We replace calorie counting with real
insight into food quality, and give people clear, actionable food intelligence so they can make
better eating decisions that fit the life they actually have.
Why we built NutriOptio
For decades, digital nutrition tools have pushed people into a rigid cycle of calorie counting
and strict numerical targets. That approach breeds food anxiety, logging friction and poor
long-term adherence. Worse, a calorie count on its own tells you nothing about how a meal affects
your blood sugar, your energy, or your metabolic health over years.
NutriOptio was built on a different premise: food quality matters more than static
numbers.
Whether you want to understand the glycemic impact of a meal, spot an ultra-processed food, or
simply find a more balanced choice, NutriOptio gives you clear, objective food intelligence in
seconds, without guilt and without tedious logging.
The meaning behind our name
The name comes from two Latin roots that carry our whole philosophy:
Nūtriō. To nourish, feed, cherish and sustain.
Optio. The power of free choice and informed decision.
Together, NutriOptio means the power to choose nourishment wisely. We give you
the data and the clarity. The decisions stay yours.
Our core values
Quality over numbers. Health is not one calorie target. We focus on nutrient
density, metabolic response and real nourishment rather than restrictive diet math.
Partnership, not control. We guide rather than dictate. You get objective
insight and options, and you stay in charge of your own health.
Honest about what is measured. AI vision identifies what is on your plate
and estimates the portion. Everything built on top of that, Glycemic Load, Nutri-Score, NOVA
processing level and your daily score, is computed in code from published standards, with
guardrails that reject implausible values. Where a number is an estimate, we say so rather than
dress it up as a measurement.
Respect and transparency. We respect your relationship with food and your
data. NutriOptio is privacy first: your data belongs to you, and we never sell it to
third-party ad networks.
Data integrity and scientific sources
NutriOptio evaluates food through established scientific frameworks, and is explicit about which
numbers are looked up and which are estimated:
Barcode scanning. Resolves against Open Food Facts, a verified global
database covering millions of packaged products. These are real recorded values, not estimates.
NOVA classification. Processing level from whole food (group 1) through to
ultra-processed (group 4), applied by rule.
Nutri-Score. Computed from the published European algorithm.
Glycemic Load. Calculated from glycemic index and the carbohydrate in your
actual portion, so it moves with what you really ate.
Estimated indicators. Glycemic Index, Insulin Index, Satiety and nutrient
density are model estimates informed by published research, shown as ranges and labels rather
than false precision. They are guides, not laboratory measurements.

💡 How to Use
The search bar is your command center. Here's what each icon does:
Text Search
Type any food name (e.g., "Butter Chicken", "Oreo", "Sushi") and tap the search icon or press Enter. Works with dishes, ingredients, packaged products, and drinks.
Voice Search
Tap the microphone icon and speak the food name — the app handles common pronunciations and works hands-free in the kitchen.
Barcode Scanner
Tap the barcode icon to open your camera. Point it at any product barcode — the red laser will track the scan. Data is fetched from the Open Food Facts global database covering millions of products worldwide.
Photo Search
Tap the camera icon to take a photo or upload one from your gallery. NutriOptio uses AI vision with a two-step process: first reading any text/brand on the package (OCR), then visually identifying the food like a chef would.
Clear
Appears when there is text in the search box. Tap to clear the search field and start fresh.
📈 Understanding Your Results

📊 Health Indicator Cards
GI
Glycemic Index
Measures how quickly a food raises blood sugar. LOW (≤55) is generally better for sustained energy. Cross-validated against published research data.
II
Insulin Index
Measures how much a food stimulates insulin production, independent of blood sugar. Important for diabetes management and metabolic health.
SI
Satiety Index
How filling a food is compared to white bread (100). Higher scores mean you feel full longer, helping with portion control and weight management.
ND
Nutrient Density
The ratio of essential nutrients (vitamins, minerals, fiber) relative to calories. Higher is better — means more nutrition per calorie.
N
NOVA Processing Level
Classifies food processing: 1 (unprocessed) to 4 (ultra-processed). Lower is better. Fresh fruits = 1, instant noodles = 4.
📚 Data Sources
Look for the source label on each indicator card:
📚 Published Data — Values cross-validated against peer-reviewed research databases
🤖 AI Estimate — Calculated by our AI model based on ingredient analysis
📐 Approximate — Formula-based estimate when AI is unavailable
